Academic shoot reflection and critique!

1. It was really hard to find things to shoot. It felt really uncomfortable to shoot quiet classes with the camera noises. There weren't many academic classes that weren't busy. Another problem i encountered was that it was really hard to find people that wouldn't stare at you and the camera.

2. I was thinking mostly about rule of thirds and lines because, they seem like some of the easiest and most fun to find. To get simplicity I looked for a subject that was in a simple and clean and clear background. To get rule of thirds I just moved the camera to the side and up or down.

3. I wish i went into to more classrooms and i more of a variety. I wish would have moved my camera more to accomplish what I wanted.

4. Some of the pictures that i took i really liked but others i disliked.

5. I think that rule of thirds and lines will be the easiest to achieve.

6. I think that balance will be the hardest because it is hard to think of something to balance another subject to or a person and i don't want it to look staged.

7. Again, I think that balance is still a little hard for me, and I could look at the powerpoint or again look at other peoples blogs.

https://jamiesphotojblog.blogspot.com/2016/09/academic-shoot.html?showComment=1475182507924#c999488766677157142I think that she found good subjects to shoot, and I think that she did a great job focusing on the subjects.
I think she could have done better job on the rule of lines because it was kinda a distracting background and the subject is not really clear.

DSLR

1. The aperture settings on this camera are 2.8, 4.5, 6.8, 11, 16 and 22.
2. The shutter speed settings available on this camera are one second, 1/60 seconds and 1/4000 seconds.
3. The ISO settings available on this camera are 100,200,400,800,1600,3200,6400,12800 and 25600.

ISO

ISO 200

ISO 3200

1. The advantages of shooting at a higher ISO at something with a lot of motion is that the motion is more clear in the photograph.
2. When using a low ISO, there should be plenty of light in the room and when the subject of the photo is still.
3. When there is not enough light for the camera to be able to quickly capture an image or when you need to get ultra fast shots, increase the ISO.

Shutter Speed

High Shutter Speed

Low Shutter Speed

Sun is up:
a. low shutter speed
b. low shutter speed
c. high shutter speed
d. high shutter speed
e. low shutter speed
f. high shutter speed

Sun is down:
a. high shutter speed
b. low shutter speed
c. high shutter speed
d. high shutter speed
e. high shutter speed
f. high shutter speed

2. Aperture Priority- When the camera automatically sets the shutter speed and you set the aperture.
Shutter Priority- when you set the shutter speed but the camera sets the aperture, Manual - when you set aperture and shutter speed by yourself.

Aperture

F2.8 aperture

F16

1. We should closely related the eyes to aperture because the lens is similar to the eyes. They both use
shrink, expand, blur, etc.

2. The smaller the aperture the larger the f-stop, and the larger the aperture the smaller the f-stop.

3. The aperture effects the depth and field because it blurs the background and makes the object in front the main focus. If the f-stop is smaller the background will be more blurred than with a larger f-stop.

Photo Manipulation and Ethnics

A. Some of the main points i read about in the articles is that photoshop is very common these days. Photoshop goes as far back to when the camera was invented in the 1600s. Photoshop started to become very relevant in the 1860s. The reason for that was because it has become very easy to watch tutorials and learn from other people how to photoshop. People these days tend to photoshop themselves because they don want to pay a lot of money to have someone else do it for you.

B. The newspapers like Washington Post and New York Times use philosophies like memory and labeling.

C. It is unethical to alter pictures because it changes someones body. The change peoples bodes by changing the color of them or thinning their bodies and covering blemishes. People also cut others out. They use it to crop out all the little unnecessary things.

D.
I think this picture is unethical because the people look like they are floating in mid air. The reason this id happening is because the lady on the far right was photoshopped into the picture and everything became unset.

This picture is ethical because the picture is only altered a little bit. All that was done is that the picture is brightened. The picture looks like there is just normal editing and the subject is really focused.

Academic Shoot!

1. The composition rule i used in this picture is the rule of thirds.
2. The subject in this picture is the girl happily working on her project.
3. The subject is clear because the camera only focuses on the girl.
4. The subject is clear because nothing is distracting you from the main focus which is the girl when      you are first looking at this picture all you see is the girl.

1. The composition rule i used in this picture is balance.
2. The subject in this picture are the students that are balanced on both sides by the pole.
3. The subject is clear because all you see when you look at this picture is the students being balanced by the poles on each side of hall.
4. The subject is clear because you focus on the students and you see them immediately.

1. The composition rule in this picture is showing a merger
2. The subject in this picture is not really clear it could be the girl or the chairs in the background or the big white van or even the girl off to the right taking a picture with her phone.
3. The subject is not really clear because there is a ton of stuff that could be subject.
4. The subject is not clear because the background has so many things going on and it is very distracting.

1. The composition rule i used in this picture is simplicity.
2. The subject in this picture is the girl quietly working.
3. The subject is clear because the camera only focuses on the girl.
4. The subject is clear because nothing is distracting you from the main focus which and the the background is not really messy but there are still little things but you still mainly focus on the girl.

1. The composition rule i used in this picture is the lines.
2. The subject in this picture is the student working on his project.
3. The subject is clear because the camera only focuses on the student.

Great Black & White Photographers #2

Name: Ansel Adams

Birthday: February 20, 1902

Death date: April 22, 1984

Ansel Adams is known to be an amazing American black and white photographer. He takes beautiful pictures of landscapes. Ansel Adams was born in San Francisco to Charles Adams and Olive Adams.
Ansel Adams studied at Harvard and Yale. His jobs were being a photographer and a Conservationalist. Some of Adams most famous books are The Print and The Camera. He mostly took photos of landscape black and white. A lot of his pictures have been widely produced on calendars, posters, and books. Even though Adams is most known for his black and white photographs he also worked with color as well. He invented the zone system which basically allowed photographers to have better control over finished products/photographs. Ansel died in ICU on April 22, 1984 in the Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula in Monterey, CA. He lived to be 82 years old and he died from cardiovascular disease.

Academic Shoot Preview #2

The photo I chose was a picture of a girl in high school. She was on the school cheer team. She looked very happy with a little girl wrapped around her waste hugging her. The little girl looked like she idolized the cheerleader

1. I picked this photo because it is really cute and the little girl looked so happy and she was idolizing the cheerleader.

2. One of the photography rules that was used in this photo was simplicity. The back ground was very clear and clean.

1. I think the science teachers classrooms because there can be a lab going and also the equipment looks cool. The Spanish classrooms could also be a cool place to take pictures because there is a lot of culture.

2. Mrs. harding or Mrs. Keyes or Profe. espinosa.

3. To be a good photographer i will use all of the photography rules and i will also take many of the same photo so i can get a variety of angles and then find the perfect photo.

Most interesting stuff

This picture shows interesting stuff because it she the kids giving to there community. This shows these kids at a food drive serving these people food.

Action and Emotion

This picture shows emotion perfectly because it shows these students and the teacher happy. They look like they are happy or excited to be at school.

The Story

This is shows the best story because they are praying before school around the flag pole. They might be praying for the men and women who are off fighting for our country.

Post Shoot Reflection :)

1. Some of the challenges that I encountered while taking my prompt shoot photos was it was hare to find things that were new and that other people haven't seen or haven't already taken. For example the hardest thing to find was a picture to take for square because there are not many thing that are interesting and cool that are square. Even when i did find something to take for square someone still took a similar picture.

2. The technical thing i was worried about the whole shoot was focus because if a photo is out of focus it doesn't turn out good. It always took me a minute to take a picture because i would check my focusing every time.

3. If i could do the assignment again i would focus more on the rules of thirds and giving my photos a different perspective and more dimensions.

4. Some of the things i would do the same is i would hold the camera the same way and i would take the same pictures.

5. On my picture for happy i said simplicity because there was a clear background it was focusing on the camera. On my picture for Bowie i put framing because the baseball players were framed. On my picture for metal i put simplicity because the camera focused on the lock and it had a clear back ground.

6. I am very interested in having more prompt assignments because it was really fun to go out and search for the things that express the word. It also lets you express your perspective on the word.

1. Her picture is very focused.

2. She followed the prompt very well.

One thing that she could improve on is she can try and get more dimensions by taking the pictures at different angles.

Avoiding Mergers

This picture shows and example of mergers not avoiding mergers. There are to many things going on a once in this photo so everything is blended together.

Framing

The picture is framed by the tall building and the person and tree. The frame turns your focus to the center building.

Balance

This photo shows balance because the broken building pieces compliment each other. The picture is proportional and each side is mirrored.

Lines

This shows lines because the vertical lines on the building are focusing your attention to the smoke falling down the building.

Rule of Thirds

This photo shows the rule of thirds perfectly because the subject is not in the center. The subjects in the photo are placed off to the right.

Simplicity

I think this photo shows simplicity because it has a clear back ground and it focuses on the man with the flag. The viewers attention goes to the left.

The Camera

1. The camera obsura effect is an optical effect. You can use this effect by being in a dark room that has a hole in the wall where light passes through. The hole acts like the lens of a camera. It focuses on projecting light onto the wall in the dark room.

2. The modern camera came a step closer when Isaac Newton and Christian Huygens made the understanding of optics and the process of making high quality glass lenses perfect.

3. In 1827 Joseph Nicéphore Niépce added film to create the first successful photograph, and the modern camera was born. Just a glass lens, dark box and film.

4. New cameras are very easy to use, just point and shoot. The camera's built-in computer handles focus and do almost everything for you.

5. Digital cameras capture the images with an electronic sensor called a CCD. Photographs are stored on reusable computer memory devices. Modern cameras are cheaper and better environmentally.

6. In program mode you have to set your own setting and focus your camera, but in auto mode the camera does everything for you.

7. The portrait setting is used to blur out the background and focus on the center of the photo. To take a photo with this setting the camera uses the fastest lens available.

8. The sports setting on a camera is used To freeze motion, camera will use the highest shutter speed possible.

9. If the subject is somewhat off-center, the auto-focus may be fooled. A half-press will tell the camera that you're almost ready to take a shot and to be prepared.

10. The symbol means no flash and should use it when you don't want to use the flash in the photo you are taking.

11. The symbol means auto flash and the camera turns it on when you are in a dark area or there is a shadow.

12. There is too much light the picture will be washed out.

13. When there is not enough light the picture will be to dark.

14. A stop is used to represent the change in the brightness or light.

15. One stop brighter if there are two suns instead of one.

16. There are two stops brighter if there are four suns instead two.

17. Longer shutter speeds allows more light.

18. Shorter shutter speeds allow less light.

19. The aperture controls the pupil or opening of the camera.

20. When adjusting the aperture you can adjust the amount of light by setting the F stop. The bigger the opening the more light comes in to the photograph.
