merger photo preview

1. One problem i see in this photo is that the first pose is different than all the others and the other 4 are the same pose. Another problem i see is the white line in the middle of the photo. It kind of distracts from the main idea.

2. I think a good place to do a photo like this would be the generic wall on the side of bowie. Because everyone takes pictures there. Another good place to take this photo would be the track.

3. something creative you could do would be a jump or a cool tumbling skill.

4. Something you could wear would be bright colors or you could change clothes in each photo.

opinion story

How much homework do you have every night? Homework is one of the most controversial topics for high school students and parents. On a normal school night i have 4-6 hours of homework but it is different for every student. I know many teachers who don't give homework and can teach everything in class. I also know teachers who work with students on homework in class.
I believe that students can learn more affectively without homework. I have been in many classes where there is no homework. Instead we just use our class time to do work and take notes. It helps many students to have time in class to do homework, it gives them a chance to ask questions before the assignment is due.
My after-school routine includes hours of homework dinner and sleep. Most students are involved in extracurricular activities and have practice after school. Getting out of school at 4:30 and then having practice and not getting home until 6:30 gives kids only 4 hours to get all homework done before 10:30. Most teachers hand out 1-3 hours of homework and when having 4 classes a day they are lucky to get 5 hours of sleep a night. So they go to bed around 1:00 in the morning and sometimes even later.
Most students get up at 6:00-7:00 when school starts at 9:00. Students rush out the door in the morning after a long night and they don't even eat breakfast. When kids our age don't get 8-10 hours of sleep it is not healthy while we are growing. I have heard from many students and personal experiences that is is harder to focus after long nights.
Students stay up even later on the days they are cramming for tests. Testing is extremely stressful for students because they have there averages, the fear of falling behind and even their parents thoughts to stress and worry about. I know from personal experiences that I get anxiety on the day of any test because of everything that is riding on the end results.
Homework should not be a reflection of the students knowledge because when a teacher gives you a worksheet and says go home and do it, you don't always understand the topic and you don't have the resources to complete the assignment. A teachers job is to answer your questions and be there to help you learn the topic. The teachers should either help you with the homework in class or they should not grade it for a daily grade because if you don't get it you can't complete the assignment.
Even assigning homework on the weekends is a little unfair because weekends are meant as a break from school. Just how adults are off on the weekends and they don't have to work so i think that we should be equal to them because one day we will be them. We will be in the positions they are in. I feel that some topics that are taught in school are not prioritized. When am I to graph a parabola in my life. Am i really going to need to know the kingdoms of animal classification or how DNA is replicated. No I will never use these things in my life. I need to learn how to do my taxes and manage money but school doesn't teach us that you are just left to do it by yourself.

HDR photography

questions:
1. An HDR photo are pictures taken at different exposure levels and all combined together. There is varying shutter speed and aperture combinations.

2. The things you will need to take this type of photograph are a camera that has a Auto Exposure Bracketing, a tripod, and a HDR shot-blending software.

3. The reason someone would take an HDR photo is to find the happy medium light and dark.

4. Once we merge the photos you can expect to have a good balance of lighting. And a very different looking picture. We will probably see more contrast in the HDR photo than we would in a regular photo.

A. I think the difference between hard news and opinion pieces is in opinion pieces it is not always the same from everyones point of view but inward news the fact are the facts and the stories seem more serious to me.

B. I think there are not many pictures on the page because there is a lot of writing and the pictures help but there is more detail in writing.

C. I think three topics to write an opinion piece would be sports events, homework and classwork and dress code.

Aidan Gunter is Bowie High School's newest student of the month this April. This interview is going to highlight why Aidan won this award. The Bowie media has decided to interview Aidan to see how his hard work has payed off.

Gunter's teacher was very proud that he won. "While looking at Aidan's achievements and grades this year we knew that he was a hard worker,"Bowie administrators said. To win this award there is a long interview process and there is a portfolio on the student that they make.

Gunter got this award because he is an outstanding student in all ways. His personality is always positive and ready to work. He is involved in many things and he really wants to be involved in more next year. "I am in orchestra this year and i am really motivate to continue with orchestra through high school.

As student of the month Gunter was asked a series of questions about his future. "I would love to go to college and i don't really have a preference but UT sounds fun." Gunter states. Gunter wants his family to be proud of what he accomplishes. " I love my family, I really look up to my dad and i want to make him especially proud."

Gunners friend is so proud of that out of all the 9th graders he won. "I am so proud of Aidan because he has accomplished so much and he deserves this award because of all of his hard work." Parker said. Gunners plans are to show students how academics can improve your life and you should not take it for granted. "I really want to show struggling students that even though the hate school that they should still try."

body paragraph

Bowie Freshman Aidan Gunter was named April's student of the month. "I was so excited to find out that Aidan Gunter won student of the month because it shows that his hard work payed off." Teacher David Chisum said.

nut graf

Also known as the nutshell paragraph, the Nut Graf of a story is the second paragraph that explains the leads connection to the story. It tells the readers why the story is timely and why the readers should care. This section normally helps the reader decide if they want to read the story.
The Nut Graf is also generally followed with a flashy quotation. When writing it, its suggested to put one or two facts in the first sentence. After the first few sentences, it contains supporting material that helps readers see why the story is important. Nut Grafs are used in every story structure.

4. the really funny pictures, mid action shots
5. I thought it was good but he lighting on some of the pictures could be better.

1. Sam Adams
2. people and sports
3. bad framing, bad lighting and they look edited a lot
4. funny pics and the action filled
5. I thought it was ok but the pictures could be ore consistent through the whole story

1. Nick Adams
2. People
3. Bad focus, bad lighting, boring
4. good framing, funny pics
5. It was good but It got worse toward the end and the pics needed to be lighter.

1.  I agree with the judges on a picture of the girls running track. They mention that the frame is to wide and the it doesn't focus in on the main person int he picture which is the girls falling. They sho the girls on the other side of the pack running and then the fall is off to the left when it should be in the middle. The judges liked the lighting on the picture and i agree because it is natural light and the photo doesn't look too bright or too dark.

2. I disagree with the judges on the picture of the football player catching the ball. The judges say that the hands behind the player make you get lost. I think that it just shows you the people fighting for the ball. I think it adds to the photo. They also don't like the lighting and it is really not that bad.

architecture preveiw #1

Burj Al Arab
1. Tom Wright
2. 1999
3. Dubai
4. It is a hotel in Dubai so it is open to people
5. It cost $1 billion to create
6. It does not symbolize anything
7. I chose this building because it looks so cool. This building kind of reminds me of a half sunken boat. I like how it looks like you climb up the side and get to the top. I love the water surrounding it so the location was perfect. The lights around the bottom add a really cool touch. It also looks like it is floating on top of the water. The dimension in the building are so cool.

Sculptured House
1. Charles Deaton
2. 1963
3. The United States
4. It is a place of residence and used in some tv shows and movies
5. 2.8 milllion
6. it was created as a place of residence
7. I really like this house because it is really different and probably no other house around looks similar to that house. I like that this house looks like it is raised up or on stilts. I love the dimension of the curve going around the house. That background kind of adds a free feeling to the location of the house. Like kind of on the edge of the mountain and the view would be amazing.

Ufo House
1. Mattie Suuoroen
2. 1978
3. Tiawan
4. it was once a type of hotel but it has be abandoned
5. $200,000
6. it was built to be be a hotel for people
7. This hotel is so cool. Instead of having a plain and boring square room you are given a different perspective in a circular room. The dimension in this photo is so cool i think it looks amazing how the rooms kind of come out of the middle and they are all connected. The sky in the background makes it look so pretty and different.

Atomium
1. Andre Waterkeyn
2. 1958
3. Belgium
4. the public
5. 93,523 to clean
6. It symbolizes the democratic will to maintain peace among all the nations, faiths, and optimistic view of the future.
7. I love this building because it is so different from any building i have ever seen.  It kid of looks like an amusement park ride. Like a ferris wheel or something. It is in insane that you are able to sleep in these little hanging rooms. I like how all the rooms are connected. The dimension in this building are amazing with kind of a 360 view within the circular rooms.

Krzywy Domek
1. Jan Marcin Szancer
2. 2004
3. Poland
4. it is open to the public, it is a shopping center
5. not mentioned
6. no there is no historical thing behind it
7. I love the building because it looks like a warped and disfigured house. It is insane how they were able to make the house look so curved and shifted. The colors add a really cool effect. It is really cool you get to walk through this and you can see it from inside and hoe the inside is changed. It looks really cool with the glass on the middle panel it really adds something.

sports/action photos

Julia runs towards me for me to capture a photo.
I took this photo for a prompt shoot we did my photojournalism class.

Julia is running across the grass for me to capture this photo.
She is warming up for her track meet that starts at 6:30 pm.

Julia loves to tumble, and i captured her in the moment.
She is celebrating for making the bowie cheer team.

Julia is trying to log into her phone but keeps mistaking the password.
Julia was frustrated and accidentally knock my camera while taking a photo.
