4. It really depends on the person and how he or she wants their photo to be. But my personal opinion is that you shouldn't change the picture to far to where they look like a different person. You should be yourself and not hide who you really are.

5. Yes, there are circumstances where a person would want to change parts of a picture. Like maybe they want to take out a pimple or brighten their skin but nothing as far as taking away all fat. I think removing fat or making them taller is wrong but a quick fluff of the hair is ethical.

6. Removing a pimple or fixing the brightness or even fluffing the hair. Making a person skinnier or taller is not okay. When they change the bodies height make a dramatic change.

7. Fashion photography is mainly used for advertisement and to display clothing. Photojournalism is when you take a photo and write about it and its meaning. Fashion photography usually involves a model or what is being advertised but photojournalism can be whatever you want.

8. When Fashion Photography is compared to reality the person does not even look like what they started and the pictures are edited to where the don't look realistic. In photojournalism the pictures are very realistic, no major changes are made to the person or the background. These affect the ethical practice because fashion photography is not always ethical because when there is so much change you aren't able to recognized the person in the first picture.

9.  I think that Mr. Reeves is showing us these photos to make us realize that photoshop can do dramatic and shaking changes to a person or even changing a object into a different object but, It can do good things if you just blurt a pimple out or brighten someone. It also shows us that it can be unethical because it shows us that people all around the world change picture so we might think it is okay to do that in our own pictures.

10.  I think none of these videos are about guys because women tend to focus on the little things of how they look. I also think they are not about guys because all the models are perfect. They are so skinny and tall and pretty. Also, most women believe that men want a tiny and skinny women look compared to heavier women.

7 Tips to Shooting Great Portrait Photographs

http://blog.phowd.com/2014/09/7-tips-shooting-great-portrait-photographs/

On this website it talks about different ways to take an amazing portrait. The also talk about different types of portraits and the rules of portraits. One thing I learned his how to add emotion and depth to the photos. By having different background in photos. It also says it adds more suspense to the photos when the subject is looking away from the camera. I could use this in my up coming assignment where we take portraits. I could add more emotion with the background and more suspense to the photo by having the subject look away. No this did not expand my knowledge on Adobe computer Programs.

Projector Brought into the Forest Turns Nature Into Glowing Wonderland

http://petapixel.com/2015/01/01/projector-brought-forest-turns-nature-glowing-wonderland/

The article is about using a projector to add light to certain parts of a photo. The main use for it is in nature where they turn forests into a glowing wonderland. They make nature look majestic and unrealistic. There are so many really cool pictures that show how the projected effected the plants and animals. I learned that you could make real life things such as nature and turn them into a bright and colorful place from a projector. I also learned how the placement of the projector can give a photo more dimensions. I picked this photo because it looks really cool how the light reflected onto the plant make it come to life. The rules of photography in this photo in this photo is balance because they are equal of both sides. Friedrich Vanschoor this photo.

6 Types of Photos Every Photographer Should Know How to Make

http://petapixel.com/2014/12/01/6-types-photos-know-make/

On this website I looked at different ways to take photos. I learned how to make them more interesting and give the more dimensions. For example I learned how to take a long exposure landscape photo. It tells you how your can use theses things when your take pictures. Another thing I learned how to take a 360 degree polar panorama. I looks really cool because you can fit so much into  one picture. I gives the photo a new perspective and it is from a different dimension. I could use this in this class later this year because I can take different photos. My photos won't be the same as everyone else they will be different and new. I learned how to do use photoshop and photo merger.

Magazines Part 2

Image Based;
The image based magazine cover is the most common cover that most designers use. the person or people usually look at the camera and smile. Depending on the subject the person could be frowning or smirking, not all pictures are of happy people. They don't always look at camera but you will commonly see them looking at the camera.

Illustration Based:
In the mid 30s drawing illustrations were the only way to create a magazine cover.  Many of the illustrations on magazines now are made to be funny or out of the ordinary. Now there are many places that get computer generated illustrations. Many magazines have a trend of doing computer generated covers. When magazine companies have illustrated covers they are colorful and eye catching.

Type Based:
This approach is rare not many companies use it. There is always something very unique about the way the numbers and words are placed. Type based covers are very different and striking. More people are using calligraphy on there covers to give it character.

Concept Based:
Concept based magazine covers are used to get across a strong message that is usually powerful and can have any meaning on the way you perceive it. When planning a concept magazine cover you need to be thinking about how to give it character how to give is a message. You need to ask yourself will the readers understand the message you are trying to get across. This type of magazine cover is not commonly used.

The relationship between words and photos on a magazine cover is words can be written in all types of ways. You can arrange your words with colors. You can express a hidden message through photos. This is important because some topics cannot come across from a  picture so you need to have words and numbers while some topics can come through from a picture and explain everything and catch the readers eye. But both pictures and words need
to catch the readers eye.

My Favorite Cover

Favorite
description:
"For W’s December/January Art Issue, the magazine collaborated with artist Yayoi Kusama to create this iconic cover image depicting George Clooney. The visually arresting image is the highlight of the cover story, for which five leading female artists were invited to create interpretive portraits of the actor. Clooney wears a suit painted by Kusama with her signature polka dots and stands against a polka-dotted backdrop. Planned to coincide with the opening of an exhibition of new work by Kusama at David Zwirner Gallery, the cover makes a powerful reference to the artist’s iconic self-portraits.

This photo is very mind tricking because the background makes Geoge really blend in.
He is wearing a polka dotted suit that blends perfectly with the background. The cover is very clean and simple. It displays what the magazine talks about. He has a little smirk on his face that makes him look precise and it makes look like he knows exactly what is going on. There is also a formal and serious feel to the cover. He has his hands behind his back and he has a straight face. The lighting is very bright and you can see a little shine on his face. The white polkadots are very bright and clean on the cover.

Magazine Tips

Five things you should be thinking about:

  • It is important to have familiar faces on the magazine. When people see news about people they know it is more interesting.
  • When people see news about kids in Africa with no water they become emotional. So they are more interested.
  • The more color the better. People appeal to color.
  • Have a lot of information but make it short and easy to scan.
  • Make sure where you sell them are interesting and cool.

Self portraits and portraits

1. Alter your perspective:
Most portraits are taken with the camera at (or around) the eye level of the subject. While this is good common sense – completely changing the angle that you shoot from can give your portrait a real WOW factor.

2. Breaking the rules of composition:
There are a lot of ‘rules’ out there when it comes to composition and I’ve always had a love hate relationship with them. My theory is that while they are useful to know and employ that they are also useful to know so you can purposely break them – as this can lead to eye catching results. The rule of thirds is one that can be effective to break – placing your subject either dead centre can sometimes create a powerful image – or even creative placement with your subject right on the edge of a shot can sometimes create interesting images.

3. Take unfocused shots:
As photographers we have ‘sharp focus’ drummed into us as an ultimate objective to achieve in our work – but sometimes lack of focus can create shots with real emotion, mood and interest. There are two main strategies for taking unfocused images that work: Focus upon one element of the image and leave your main subject blurred. To do this use a large aperture which will create a narrow depth of field and focus upon something in front of or behind your subject.
I like this photo because the portrait focuses on her but you can still see the nature behind her. I picked it because it looks really cool and simple.

I really like this photo because it shows her covered in nature with the flower crown and the dandelions in her hands and all the nature around her. I picked it because it is simple.

I like this photo because it is from a cool and different perspective. I picked because it is clean and simple.

I like this photo because it is cute and simple. I picked it because it is clean and simple.

I like this photo because it is clean and simple. I picked because i like the black and white.

I like this photo because it is simple and clean.

I like tis picture because the little boy is so cute and it shows him enjoying nature.

American Soldier

A.  The most powerful image i found was the picture of Fisher bowing his head in prayer after a hard day of work. While he was suffering from a heat rash on his neck, chest and back. Later he said,
“I’ve been praying that God takes this stuff off my back.” I think this image is powerful because it shows how he stays strong and who he turns to when he is in need in the tough times of war.

B. The images in the article create a story by showing you what he wants to be to what he becomes. It shows him on his graduation day and him opening his diploma. All he wanted to do was be enlisted to the army and he couldn't do that if he didn't have a diploma. Then it goes to him going off to an recruiting office to learn the basic training from another soldier. It then goes to him getting ready for combat then going into combat. As the weeks go by it shows Fisher turning to god to help him through the tough times of combat.

C. The captions give you more information on the pictures and they draw out details that you made not have noticed. They help know exactly what is going on.

D. Ian Fisher enlisted in the army to redefine his life and help and save others. He went through a process to train and build his body to become the best  he could be. He encountered many hardships and tough life decisions. Even through the hardest times he always turned to god to help him. He was put on many drugs that impacted him in a major way and his family was really worried for his well being. He found joy in saving lives even though he was away from family and the times were tough. Ian enlisted for a year-long deployment where he was sent to Iraq. He found many new things about himself through this experience. He new how lucky his life was by seeing and living some of these peoples experiences. When Fisher came back from his final deployment he proposed to his girlfriend and they got married the same day.

E. In the photos where Ian is the main subject the captions are mainly written in present tense.

F. The captions are about2-3 sentences long. In the first sentence the captions is given a who, what, when, where and why. In the second sentence more details are given and sometimes there is a quote.
In the third sentence it is based on what the person or subject thinks or feels in their case Ian. Most of the captions in Denver post provide a quote that shows emotion and their feelings in the photo that was captured. There were some of the captions that had four sentences throughout the newspaper. It usually only happened when there are multiple people have a quote.

G. I think it is possible to tell  full story with just pictures and captions because a picture can show the emotion and the caption can add details and tell you whats really going on the picture.

H. Even though you can create a story with photos and captions it is still important to write the story so you can be creative with it and add more detail and more explanation.
