Extra Credit For Final Exam

1. The 58 year old man who was killed by the subway train in New York City was named Ki Suk Han. People explained that he was used onto the tracks by another man who was harassing a passersby. He stepped in to try and help the situation by calming the man down but that caused the man to become even more angry so, he pushed Han away causing him to fall onto the operating train tracks. Han began trying to lift himself out knowing there was a train coming his way but, he wasn't strong enough. Photographer R. Umar Abbasi was trying to lift Han out but realized he couldn't do it himself so he began to snap pictures towards the train to notify the driver of Han but the train couldn't stop in time.

2. The photo because he was trying to tell the conductor to stop the train with his camera flash but the train was going to fast and it wouldn't stop fast enough.

3. I think the photographer should have taken the photo because he was simply trying to notify the driver that there was a man in the tracks and that he needed to stop. He wasn't choosing the picture over Hans life he was just helping when he couldn't pull him out by himself.

4. I think the photographer did do the right thing in the situation because he was one of the only people to help. Other people were just walking by. He tried to pull him out he tried to help but he couldn't by himself. So, he choose to do the best thing he could think of. That was to warn the driver of the man in the tracks. He thought to use the flash on his camera which is smart.

5. I don't agree with the photo being the front cover because it was a horrible thing that happened to that poor man. He should be honored and not be made into a debate.

6. Stopping bad things from happening is more important. People should help others before going to the fame and the fortune. The photographer was just trying to notify the the train driver to stop. He didn't do it to get on the cover of a magazine.

7. I think it is ethically acceptable to involve himself. He was just trying to help. He wasn't trying to make the front cover of the magazine.

8. Photojournalists should not influence events because they could be bad things happening and instead of encouraging it they should be helping. Doing what they can to help those in need.

9. People are saying that he is full of crap. They don believe the photographer because the way the photo was taken. The photo was taken form a distance an that says he backed up to take the photo and the photo is more aimed at Han than the train.
